ypsi project

hello. my name is erica hampton. i'm a photographer. i use to live in ypsilanti and now i live in los angeles. this is the ypsi project: photographs of the people that are ypsi. i no longer take portraits for this project, but if you have a portrait of ypsi that you would like to submit please send an email to erica@ypsiproject.com or if you have any quick questions you can ask them easily right here.

Anonymous said: Hi, first of all, I like the concept and the shots here. Nice work. I just moved to Ypsi a few days ago, and I have been unable to find a Photo store anywhere around here. Even a google search yields nothing of value. Do you know of any? Or where do you get your supplies?

Thank you, I enjoyed working on this project. I don’t live in MI anymore, but last I knew there are no camera shops in Ypsi or Ann Arbor. The nearest shop when I was in town ( and is still the case according to friends in the area) was Huron Camera in Dexter. It’s not as fun or quick, but you can order just about everything you need online at b&h photo, adorama or amazon. Hope this helps!

Nathan Klages shared this recent video with me on Facebook and it reminded me of the first time we met him during the Bombadill’s Ypsi Event. It’s always so great to see what people are involved with.

Thank you Dave Hamilton for submitting your fantastic self portrait to @ypsiproject! http://ypsiproject.com/

Ypsi Project : Dave Hamilton
Thanks to Dave Hamilton for submitting a photo of himself near the Mackinac Bridge! Dave moved to Ypsi in 1968 to attend EMU. After graduating he decided to stay. While he is not a native he feels like one.

More than likely you’ve seen Dave’s signs around town. He has sold and leased commercial real estate for Swisher Commercial for 40 years. He has helped some Ypsi greats such as Beezy’s Cafe and Liquid Swordz obtain their locations. I guess that makes Dave an Ypsi great himself :)

speedphotos said: This is not so much a question as I wanted to say I love project and the photos. For a while now I have been wanting to do something like this but I always end up backing down. I'm trying to work on being more outgoing, but anyway love the site!

Thank you speedphotos!
