Ed Penet was a single parent living in Ann Arbor when he attended a jazz concert being held at the Freighthouse in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town. It was there he met his wife, Bonnie. Ed and has been in Ypsi for 25 years, raised his son here and is now a trustee of the Freighthouse in Ypsilanti and chairman of the building committee. He and his colleagues have worked through many obstacles to get funding for the preservation of the Freighthouse and have succeeded. Plans for Amtrak to have a depot in Ypsi are set for 2011.
