Ypsi Project : James Mann (via ericarhiannon)
I met James at the Ypsilanti Historical Museum Archives last summer and liked him instantly. Friendly, full of interesting stories with an awkward, charming sense of humor Mike and I have had to restrain ourselves from becoming James Mann groupies….we think he’ll appreciate our restraint. James was born and grew up in Detroit, graduating from EMU in 1980 during one of the worst economic depressions since….well, since lately. He decided to stay in Ypsi and lucky for us he is still here. James has written several books on the history of Ypsilanti. Those books can be found at the Ypsilanti Historical Museum, their online gift shop as well as Amazon and Google Books. He also gives an awesome haunted tour of Ypsilanti and writes a monthly column for the Ann Arbor Gleanings. If you have a free afternoon I would definitely stop by the Ypsilanti Historical Archives and make it a point to meet James, he really is a great guy.
