Ypsi Project: Kim Demick (by ericarhiannon)
Originally from the downriver area, Kim lived what she calls a nomadic life in Ann Arbor for 5 years before settling in Ypsi. Kim is a clothing designer and currently has a studio space at SPUR where she custom makes commissioned apparel. She’s been developing her plant dye knowledge of silk , linen and wool for the past 10 years , inspired by the rich colors she experienced while living in Sierra Leone, West Africa & Taos, NM. Her dream is to one day have a farm and a cottage industry of natural dyeworks, employing weavers, silkscreeners, dyers, & sheep caretakers. Kim spends her free time riding her bike and discovering unseen paths, volunteering at FLY Childrens Art Center and many other things. She loves the sense of caring, sense of life and connectedness that is Ypsi.
