Ypsi Project: Ruth Marks (by ericarhiannon)
After trying to coordinate schedules I was finally able to meet up with Ruth and her family one cold but humid day (typical michigan weather). She invited me into her home and I was able to see the studio where she makes her art. Her hand made figures have such life in them, each one is a little different, each one has it’s own personality. You can check them out here. If any of you happen to purchase the Bird Cage Girl and want to give her to me I’d be okay with that ;) Ruth also runs FLY arts center. It’s a really wonderful art program that allows each child to be creative without expectations. Ruth and her volunteers are there to encourage each child and help them see their ideas through in each project. My son Xander has been and he loves it…just loves it.
